The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award 2008
The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award has been presented on an annual basis and recognises the efforts of those who have put humanitarian concerns above all others.
Nominations for the 2008 award can be submitted between 25 January and 29 February. Nominees (either an individual or a group) can be from anywhere in the world, fo any gender, age or creed.

CRITERIA
The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award nominee must have demonstrated one or more of the following, either through a particular achievement in 2007 or through a series of efforts during the lifetime of the nominated individual or group:
1. a courageous deed involving personal self-sacrifice/going beyond the call of duty in the name of humanity and/or charity;
2. a commitment to serving others demonstrated by an act or acts of selfless service;
3. a generosity of spirit and a dedication resulting in the betterment of people in need (defined as needing shelter, food, clothing, education and meaningful employment);
4. a commendable direct "hands-on" participation in a charitable act directly benefiting an individual or groups of individuals or community;
5. through outstanding involvement and dedication, have made a significant contribution of volunteer leadership or service which has improved or enriched the lives of others and the welfare of humanity and society as a whole;
6. an act of kindness done without expectation of reward that has resulted in recognition by members of a community/family/institution
